Guillotine System (Guillotine Window / Vertical Sliding System)
A guillotine system is a type of movable glass window or wall in which glass panels are moved vertically with the help of an electric motor and remote control. The controls move up or down and overlap. The system gets its name from the similarity of its movement to that of a guillotine blade.
Advantages
- ✅ Unobstructed panoramic view: Moving the panels up or down creates a wide view without disturbing vertical frames.
- ✅ Easy conversion of open and closed space: The balcony, terrace or restaurant easily changes from a semi-open space to a fully closed space and vice versa.
- ✅ Easy control: Opening and closing is done by motor and remote control.
- ✅ Insulation Good: Using double-glazed windows and suitable thermal and acoustic insulation profiles.
- ✅ A sense of modernity and luxury: Special design and automatic operation give the space a modern and luxurious look.
- ✅ High strength and durability: Strong aluminum profiles and tempered or laminated glass.
Disadvantages
- ❌ Very high cost: The complexity of the mechanism, engine, and quality materials make the system expensive.
- ❌ Requirement of sufficient space: The panels must be placed in the lower compartment when opened.
- ❌ Complexity of installation and maintenance: Specialized installation and maintenance of the motor and mechanism require specialists.
- ❌ Dependence on electricity: Without electricity, the system will fail (some models have an emergency manual system).
- ❌ High weight: Heavy glass panels require a solid foundation.
- ❌ Possible problems with sealing: In very bad weather conditions, complete sealing may be challenging.
The guillotine system is an ideal option for roof gardens, large terraces, restaurants, cafes and villas that are looking for a unique experience with panoramic views and complete control over the open and closed space.
