Awning Window System
Awning windows are a special type of hinged window where the hinges are located at the bottom of the sash. When opened, the sash opens inward from the top, creating a gap for ventilation.
Applications
Often used above other windows or in places that need ventilation while preventing rain from entering. Suitable for basements, bathrooms, toilets, above doors, next to entrance doors and above kitchen sinks or cabinets.
Advantages
- Privacy: Opening from the top limits the view from the outside to the inside.
- Suitable for small spaces: Does not require a large opening space inside or outside.
- Gentle air flow: Ventilation without creating strong wind currents.
- High security: Limited opening makes it difficult for thieves to pass.
- Resistance to insects and dust: Limited opening partially prevents direct entry.
- Proper insulation: The complete sash is fastened to the frame and provides good thermal and acoustic insulation.
- Resistance and Durability: UPVC profiles are resistant to moisture, rot, corrosion and UV rays.
- Long life and low maintenance: Requires low maintenance and service.
Disadvantages
- Limited ventilation: The window never opens fully and does not provide maximum airflow.
- Difficult to clean from the outside: Cleaning the outside of the glass is challenging, especially on high floors or in hard-to-reach places.
- Limited dimensions: Usually not made in large sizes so that the weight of the sash does not put pressure on the hinges.
- Unable to be used as an escape or entry route: Limited opening and small dimensions prevent emergency use
- Special appearance: May not be suitable for every space and may need to be combined with other types of windows.
UPVC casement windows are a smart solution for spaces that require limited ventilation, privacy and security, and there is not enough space to fully open the window.
